Meet the Partners: Radical Innovations Group

What are your main tasks in the project?

Radical Innovations Group AB (RIG) is involved in two Work Packages (WPs): WP5 and WP7.

In WP5, RIG will support the WP5 lead beneficiary by carrying out the techno-economic assessment and related life cycle costing (LCC) assessment. For these tasks, RIG will collaborate and gather inputs related to life cycle assessments (LCA) developed by the WP5 leader in collaboration with other METALLICO partners.

In WP7, RIG will develop and draft the data management plan (DMP) which is a key deliverable. Furthermore, RIG will be developing a strategy for commercial exploitation that ensures successful adoption and use of the results at different levels along the project value chain (scientific, industries, authorities, end-users). In addition, RIG aims to develop a strategy and management plan for the intellectual property rights (IPR) as the project matures.

Why do you think METALLICO is important for the general public?

METALLICO holds significant importance for the general public due to its potential impact on various aspects of daily life. The project's focus on sustainable recovery strategies for (critical) battery metals aligns with the growing need for environmentally friendly solutions in the energy sector. By developing innovative methods to recover valuable materials from batteries and promoting their reuse, METALLICO contributes to reducing the environmental footprint of battery production and disposal. This directly benefits the public by addressing environmental concerns, promoting resource efficiency, and supporting the transition to cleaner energy technologies.

Moreover, the project's emphasis on digital tools and data management enhances transparency and accountability in the battery metal supply chain, which is crucial for ensuring responsible sourcing and minimizing potential risks. Ultimately, the work of METALLICO resonates with the general public as it strives to create a more sustainable and resilient future for energy storage and contribute to the broader goal of mitigating climate change.
